Recap Winter Break 2024

--Girls Wrestling started the State Tournament this past Friday after a second place finish in the Mooresville Invitational the first week of winter break.  Lydia Kwaleh earned an IHSAA Sectional Championship to advance to the Semi-State competition.  Other Falcons advancing are Runner-up finish by Aniah Delgado, 3rd place finishers Leeah Shelton and Alexia Bradley and 4th place finishes by Valeria Velez and Lilliana Dodd.  The Falcons will travel to Alexandria on Friday for a chance to punch a ticket to the State Finals in the inaugural IHSAA State Tournament.   --Boys Wrestling competed in the Marion County Tournament to start the break with Colin Clark earning a County Championship.  Peyton Brummitt and Dylan Merilus finished in 3rd place, Covyn Shelton 4th place, and Edwin Turcios and Sean Murphy finishing in 5th place rounding out the Falcons with podium finishes.  The Falcons then followed it up with a team championship at the Mooresville Invitational.  Anthony Quarles and Seer Godwise finished the tournament on top of the podium.  Other top-5 finishers included Colin Clark, Sean Murphy, and Edwin Turcios.   --Swimming and Diving also competed in the County Championship at the start of the winter break.  The team had one of the highest number of A Final participants in recent years.  Podium finishes were earned by Elaine Means Diving, Auria Knight 100 and 200 Freestyle, Caroline Smothers 100 Butterfly, Gillian Revard 100 Breastroke, Hollan Cathcart Diving, Carter Fuhrmann 200 and 500 Freestyle, Nik Bauerle 200 IM and 100 Butterfly, Gage Stiemert 50 Freestyle, and Eli Williams 50 Freestyle.  Falcon relays (Boys/Girls 200 Medley, Boys/Girls 200 Free, and Boys 400 Free) also finished on the podium.  The Falcons also hosted Roncalli for a "Double Distance" meet to end the winter break.  Both genders defended the home turf defeating the Royals and Coach Cox holding down bragging rights in her family defeating her husband's team.    --Boys Basketball competed in the Lebanon Tournament earning a win over Western High School, an overtime loss to Mooresville, and a defeat by Evansville North.  The Falcons ended the winter break at home against Center Grove, falling to the south-side rival.   --Girls Basketball struggled through tough competition at the Lebanon Tournament.  The Falcons return home on Tuesday for Senior Night as the program honors Alyssa Baird, Emmi Cody, Ella Cross, Ally Raymer, Sofi Terrell, and Mariah Thomas.
