Recap week of January 6th

--Girls Wrestling traveled to Alexandria for Regional action on Friday. The Falcons started the day with 6 advancing from the Sectional. Valeria Velez, Lilliana Dodd, and Alexia Bradley ended the season with losses to tough talent. At 100 lbs, Aniah Delgado had a first-round bye and then secured her State Qualifying spot with an overtime takedown in the second round. Leeah Shelton used a come-from-behind victory in round one to survive and a second-round victory to punch her ticket to the State Finals at 110 lbs. Lydia Kwaleh, 170 lbs., outmuscled her opponents each round to qualify for the State Finals, including a tight 0-1 final match with a 3-time State Champion. Aniah (Regional Runner-up), Leeah (4th pace), and Lydia (Regional Runner-up) will take on the State's best Friday at the State Fair Grounds. --Girls Swimming and Diving battled the Mid-State with a number of Falcons reaching the A Finals. Auria Knight Conference Runner-up in the 200 Free and 3rd in 100 Free, Madi Burke 6th in 100 Breaststroke, Gillian Revard 7th in 100 Breaststroke and 8th in 100 Butterfly, Thali Gumiran 8th in 500 Free, Elaine Means 8th in Diving, and Avery Richey 8th in 100 Backstroke. The team finished fourth and just a few points out of third. --Boys Swimming and Diving also took on the best of the Mid-State with Carter Fuhrman bringing home a Conference Championship in the 500 Freestyle and a 3rd in the 200 Free. Other Falcon podium finishes include Conference Runner-up Finish in Diving by Hollan Cathcart, Eli Willams 4th in 50 Free, Nik Bauerle 6th in 100 Butterfly and 7th in the 200 IM, and Owen Shreve 7th in 100 Backstroke. The team finished fourth overall and just a handful of points from the top 3. --Boys Basketball traveled to Scecina on Saturday. The Falcons used a big first half by Senior Sterlin Lewis who finished with 19 points and a demostrative dunk over the Crusaders to spark the fire in the Falcons. Bryce Mathis led the Falcons in scoring with 25 points and the team went 18-for-22 from the free-throw line to ice the victory. --Girls Basketball celebrated Senior night this past week. The team honored Aliyssa Baird, Emmy Cody, Ella Cross, Ally Raymer, Mariah Thomas, and Sofi Terrell along with managers Byron Hon and Zach Carlile. Everyone saw time on the floor including Ella Cross who has returned from a season-ending injury a year ago. This group of seniors has battled each and every game and has one more home game this season.
