What a week the Falcons survived the remnants of a hurricane and did not falter... our Falcons THRIVED! --Football did not allow the Saturday afternoon lights to deter the chase for victory. The Falcons defeated Greenwood 35-28 to give us a homecoming win. The combination of Alan Zupan and Ethan Neffle scored a Touchdown with less than 30 seconds to secure the win and a positive record going into week 7 for the first time since 2015. --Boys Soccer battled everything Marion County could throw at the Falcons this week. Victories over Roncalli (2-1 Monday), Lawrence North (1-0 Wednesday), and Franklin Central (1-0 Saturday) have given the Falcons a shot at the County Final. The Championship game will be played at Ben Davis at 6:30 on Tuesday. The team will also play Monday at Martinsville, a win would give the Falcons back-to-back Conference Championships. --The Girls Soccer team was defeated by County finalist Roncalli in the opening round this past week. The Falcons did find the back of the net twice in a loss to Jennings County on Saturday. The team will play Warren and Cascade this week as they prepare for the Sectional action next week. --Volleyball competed against 4A #1 Roncalli and kept the match close early before falling to the Nationally ranked Royals. The Falcons did bounce back with a victory over Greenwood and with a Senior Night win over Beech Grove. The Falcons head into the final conference match and the County tournament this week with a .500 record. --Boys Tennis picked up a pair of victories this week with clean Southport and Lawrence Central sweeps. Senior Matt Willey also picked up a victory at #1 singles in the opening round of the County Tournament over North Central. --Cross Country traveled to a muddy Franklin Community on Saturday for the Conference Championship meet. The girls team finished fourth and the boys fifth. The Falcons placed three in All-Conference Honors; Alec Dial fourth, Kairi Ghent sixth, and Lorelei Boesgaard ninth. Freshman Maddie Burk placed 17th to earn an honorable mention. This is the first time since joining the Mid-State Conference that two female Falcons earned All-Conference honors in the same race. --Unified Football continues to have fun and find the endzone, just not more than their opponents. This past week the Falcons played at Indian Creek and Colton Hutcherson scored a big touchdown. The Unified Falcons also competed in the State Finals of Bocce Ball on Saturday. --Girls Golf ended the season in Sectional play this past week. Seniors Emmi Cody, Madi Murray, and Audrey Stroud left everything on the course for the Falcons all season including this final round. Junior Avery Richey leads the returners next season as the Falcon continues to chase birdies.
