Perry Meridian High School Athletics

--Boys Soccer had back-to-back Championship games this past week, bringing home a Conference Championship after a 2-2 tie at Martinsville.  The Falcons followed this up with an overtime battle with Ben Davis in the Marion County Final.  After eighty minutes, the Falcons and Giants were tied and moved into penalty kicks.  It took 8 rounds to fall to the Giants, yet earned valuable experience going to Sectionals this week.   --Boys Tennis was able to keep the streak alive with a seventh straight Sectional title. The team used strong play by the Falcon double teams to start the scoring each night. Freshman Collin Smothers has been Mr. 3-sets all year, and this time he used that experience to push the Falcons over the hurdle in both victories. The Falcons defeated Decatur Central (4-1) and flipped the early season score to top Roncalli (3-2). --Football took a 21-20 lead into the locker room at undefeated Martinsville on Friday after a strong second quarter of big plays on both sides of the ball.  Injuries knocked the Falcons out of rhythm in the second half and the Falcons fell to the Artesians.  The Freshman team continues to outplay their opponents with another victory on Saturday to match the JV victory as well.   --Volleyball finished the conference season with a win at home over Martinsville before losing to Lutheran in the Marion County Tournament.   --Girls Soccer had a strong finish to the regular season with a 8-0 victory over Warren Central and a 0-0 tie with Cascade.   --Cross Country headed to Terre Haute on Friday to run under the lights on the State Finals course in the Nike Twilight Race.  Alec Dial led the boys who finished 5th overall.  The girls also performed well with Elora Swan getting a personal best in the race.   --Unified Football traveled west to take on Southport in the Brownsburg Sectional.  Our Falcons fought the Cardinals and walked away fulfilling the Unified purpose of promoting social inclusion and creating a more inclusive environment with and without intellectual disabilities.  No matter what the final score is on the scoreboard our Falcons earn the greater victory with every opportunity.
